Saturna Heritage Centre

Branding, Web Design

The branding for the Saturna Heritage Centre (SHC) was developed to reflect the Centre’s role as a steward of Saturna Island’s unique history, culture, and community spirit. Operated by the all-volunteer Heritage Committee of the Saturna Community Club — the island’s oldest community organization, continuously running since 1932 — SHC is a grassroots initiative dedicated to preserving and presenting the stories of Saturna Island's past and present.

The brand identity centres around a stylized illustration of the iconic Fog Alarm Building (FAB), nestled against the island’s coastal landscape. It captures the warmth and heritage of the site, while also nodding to the natural beauty and maritime history of the region. The visual system extends across printed materials, signage, merchandise, and digital platforms. The design blends historical authenticity with a friendly, contemporary style. A muted coastal palette is accented by warm reds and vibrant sea blues, evoking both the rugged shoreline and the welcoming community spirit. Archival photos, playful nautical motifs, and grid-based layouts help ground the brand in history while keeping it accessible and engaging for visitors of all ages.
